Vegetable Oils in Skin Creams

A cream is simply an emulsion of oils and water, however it is the ingredients selected that determine whether the cream will have benefits for one's skin.

Vegetable oils help to keep the skin supple and smooth, and choosing oils that are suited to the individual can make a difference to the overall performance of the cream. The main oils used in skin care creams and lotions are as follows:

Sensitive skin - apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, borage oil.

Normal Skin - almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, sesame oil.

Oily skin, acne - jojoba oil, sunflower oil, thistle oil.

Dry skin, mature skin - avocado oil, borage oil, evening primrose oil, macadamia oil, olive oil, shea butter.
