This is a simple, light body lotion that is quick and easy to make with ingredients that are found most kitchens. Almond and sesame oils have been suggested for this recipe, however you can use the plant oils that are best suited to your skin type.

You will need:

125ml almond oil

125ml sesame oil

125ml spring water

30ml beeswax, grated

1.5ml borax

8 drops bergamot essential oil

8 drops geranium essential oil

Method:

Mix the borax and the spring water together. Melt the almond and sesame oils and beeswax in a double boiler or bain marie until the temperature reaches 75 degrees C. At the same time heat the borax solution in a double boiler or bain marie until the temperature reaches 75 degrees C.

Trickle the borax solution into the heated oils, whisking continuously with an electric hand mixer or stick blender. Once all the water has been mixed in, continue whisking until the lotion is cool. Stir in the bergamot and geranium essential oils and pour the lotion into a clean bottle.

Keep the lotion in the refrigerator as no preservative has been added. It will keep for three to six months if stored in this way.
