Rose Petal Bath Salts

Bath salts are quick and easy to make, and make a pretty accompaniment to some handmade soaps. Dead sea salt is finer than ordinary sea salt, and makes for a wonderful, relaxing bath. Because it is so fine, it absorbs colour and essential oil well.

You will need:

Accurate scales
Mixing bowl and spoon
Clean, clear jars or wide-necked bottles
350g Dead Sea Salt
4 drops red food colouring
15-20 drops Rose Essential Oil
Dried Rose Petals

Weigh the dea sea salt and place it into the mixing bowl. Add the red food colouring and mix until the colour is evenly distributed throughout the salt. Add the rose essential oil and mix until well absorbed into the salt. To finish, add a handful of dried rose petals.

Place in jars or bottles.

These bath salts look and smell divine, and make ideal gifts...:o)

NB. Rose essential oil has become expensive in recent years. There are a number of good synthetic rose fragrances available, and they will also give these salts a wonderful fragrance. Rose, English Rose, Rose Red and Rose Fresh all make good substitutes for rose essential oi in terms of fragrance.
