Blackberry Leaf & Rose Toner

This is a good mildly astringent toner for combination and oily skins. Blackberries (brambles) grow wild in the summer and the leaves can be picked fresh and used on the same day. Alternatively you can purchase cultivated blackberry leaves from a herb supplier.

You will need:

2.5g blackberry/bramble leaves

50ml boiled spring water

2.5ml apple cider vinegar

1 drop rose essential oil

Method:

Place the blackberry leaves in a heatproof bowl and pour the boiling spring water over. Cover the bowl and leave to infuse for twenty minutes. Strain the blackberry leaf infusion and leave to cool.

Drop the rose essential oil into a dark glass bottle. Add the cider vinegar and shake well. Add the cooled blackberry leaf infusion and shake again. Store the bottle in the refrigerator and use within three days.

To use:

Apply to the skin using cotton pads after cleansing. This toner can be used as an after-shave lotion – men might not appreciate the scent of rose, so replace it with sandalwood or benzoin…:o)
